A
Small
Country store
Stands against
A background
Of snow covered pines
Bare of Christmas lights
And tacky neon signs
Its frosted windows lit
By a single electric bulb
Pulled by a piece of twine...
The flight of a redbird winging toward
A nearby tree- dark greenery peeking
Through a blanket of white snow-
lacy snowflakes softly falling-
The wintery scene magically truns the store
Into a live Christmas card-
And It doesn't need bright lights
To light the way toward Christmas
The peace of its simplicity speaks
For itself and of childish mysteries-
Beneath the snow covered roof -
Somewhere between the glass candy case
And the old red pop cooler-
There is a hidden pathway that leads back
To childhood of days gone by
When children were precious
And reindeers could fly...
I wish all In AP a
Merry Christmas
And a Happy
New Year

Author notes
This store was one across HY 15 where I lived as a child.
I spent my childhood dashing across the busy HY and back without first looking both ways for oncoming traffic.
I lived on the edge.

Those were the days that magic was in the air
Pure good old days, when small things like candy boxes and hand made cards were so mystical
I love the magic you create in your writes dear poetess
I`d love to read one of your books

This is fantastic Jally
oh yes, I remember when reindeer could fly
and if I wished upon the first star
I knew it would come true
Everything today is commercialized
that is not the true meaning of Christmas at all
bravo poetess
