Carnage

Death,
a million bodies,
lay scattered and uncared for.
There was a battle here.
Innocent faces
bloodied,
hearts torn by the carnage.
Murders.
Tears.
Pain, unlimited.
Bombs and guns.
A family once lived here.
Innocent faces
bloodied,
hearts torn by the carnage.

I think you have described carnage quite well It’s not hard to imagine this scene as you’ve laid it out before me. I really like the ending. You’ve wrapped it up nicely and brought awareness to the scene; making one ponder it.

Powerful write. It has a foreboding feel to it. I fear there may always be carnage in this world we live in. Thanks for sharing.
