Drongos

When the lady I live with feeds her pet parrots,
some seeds fall to the ground near their cage
and are foraged by some of the drongos
which live in one of our many garden trees.

Today as I was poised nearby, tail twitching,
ready to spring, watching as the parrots were fed;
hoping to  catch at least one of the feeding drongos,
all seemed to be going according to plan
when one of the parrots squawked:
"Look out drongos! That cat’s right behind you!”

Author notes

    This is really cute. I like the way you've painted the imagery so vividly in this piece. Excellent.
