Wells’ Finest Fiction.

~

Gutters fill
with
moral compasses in
drenching downpour
reign of
corpora consensus.

Polytheistic epitomes
bow to each other
in perfect
pride; seismic sea change.

Self-congratulatory preeners
politically collect,
shriek directives
"Moral indignation is jealousy with a halo."
damning decibels.

The emperor,
the shaman you
has no clothes to sweep
under rugs.

Exorcism is complete.

God has left the building
baby Jesus
thrown out
with the bathwater -
“we”
supersedes supernature.

  • You have gone to great lengths with this and I appreciate the efforts it has taken to show the mirror image of hypocrisy. best of luck in round two

Thanks Ken. I think it's just too bad that one has to agree with your/Well's point of view in order to have even a chance of moving to the next round.

This is an interesting take on the prompt. Your words express the power-charged anger of hypocrisies and the damage that can be caused.

An interesting compilation of words and word choices.

Thank you for your entry and best of luck in this round. ~Pamela

I applaud the direction you followed with this poem. I agree that too often moral laxity and relativism have led us astray. However, I do believe there is a happy medium between those who would impose all their values and those who would impose none. This poem gives the reader a great deal to ponder. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz

Liz thank you for your input. As you are well aware I value varied input with respect to current issues. I felt so strongly that I just about didn't enter here at all even though I placed well in the last NO GREENS contest.

    So many words that I loved in this, rolled off the tongue; corpora consensus, siesmic sea, damning decibels, etc. Great alliteration with words you don't see everyday. I also liked this;
    "God has left the building
    baby Jesus
    thrown out
    with the bathwater"
what a great image that created. Definitely a statement on our selfish times.

Thank you Kathleen. I tweaked it a couple of times to make certain that I was disagreeing with Wells' statement. He's a great author, I just can't abide by his assertion. As far as I'm concerned there isn't enough outrage at the immorality in this country, especially in reference to the immoral control foisted upon us by big government.
