Singing songs of Winter
resting in the snow,
ruffling his feathers
as the wind does blow...
His chest like holly
berries, dazzled in
frost fringed bushes
emerald leaves catching
snow-flakes, he sweetly
cocks his head as evergreens shake
snow from their branches
as dawn breaks...
Morning sunlight shimmering
on his peppered gray feathers
juniper berries in his beak,
he looks out into the distance
to the south mountain peaks...
He flaps his wings
and his songs slowly fade
into the icy blue sky,
with only sunlight
to guide,glittering on the snow
into the horizan he flies
as winter frozen tears it cries...
"Come again winter bird..."
