My Boss

He puffs his chest with pride and starts to sing
The smartest bird on any winters day
He always wants the best of everything
He's sung for me and now I have to pay!

He's brushed away the snow but cannot find
The sort of food that suits his regal style
I'm pretty sure I know what's in his mind
A meal worm would surely make him smile

All winter long he'll brighten up the scene
A flash of red amongst the grey and white
He'll keep my smile till spring brings back the green
A spark of joy when winters at its height

I love the cheeky way I'm bossed around
I'll keep him fed while frost is on the ground

You've been conversing with Bill Oddie again haven't you!
Lovely write about a cheeky little chap who though very solitary gives us all a little bit of entertainment-keep feeding him.

J..love this sonnet! You have this little bird's temperament to a T...You both have an affinity to each other...Full of imagery, what a delight to read on a day that tomorrow heralds winter! Beautiful write!
