in your frozen feathers,
poor winter bird?
Can you fly high enough
to escape your prey,
lovely winter bird?
Do you rest enough
in your wind-blown nest,
oh tired winter bird?
Your nestlings sing
you thankful praises,
little mama bird ~
Or are they praying
you'll find food enough
in the snowfall of the day,
hungry winter bird?
