And now it is ... November. A month for mending
dreams and things; for thinking what to gift
of treasures from God's pantry, study
or his reading room.
And I decided thus to share with you an orange:
sweet Valencia, sun-warm in its glow. To peel it
as a child would do -- all thumbs, but fingers cautious
not to tear the tender skin of segments circled in a row.
And from the sacred study I shall bring to you the seven stars
as precious gifts to ponder Cross; his reading room
contains the Book in which your name
was woven soft
merged with its Origin:
Ronald. Yes. Ruler's Counselor.
How apt a name for someone as refined
as you; a man so wise, mature
and kind.
Selected from his Prayer Loft
the blessings, fair intend, for you ...
especially on this day to share:
May God forever bless you,
keep you,
Ron, my friend, in true transcend.

There is cheer, and then there is encouragement, and then the deep wisdom that all is well no matter how it appears. This is the third kind, and a wonderful benediction. The meaning of Ronald the wise man is set into the poem very naturally.
Thanks for entering! -
Gorgeous thoughts, dear! This is tender and loving, hopeful and retrospective all at once. I love your revelation of the secret hidden in an orange, "sweet Valencia, sun-warm in its glow."
All best wishes to Ron for his birthday, and you.
