Postcard from lessons in life

from first-breath-genesis
inhaled through light
flickering through
eggshell-blue-who-hoo

fusion of stoic struggle
for tenderness
mouth to bountiful breast

seeking close comfort
of warm nest to nestle
nourished by beaks
of other birds

three notes rang-sang-true
why; how; fly;
from thoughts-fountain-spring

magpies sought to steal appeal
of star-spangled-mangled-shine
the jibber-jabber of business
brokered by monkey tree-disease

( in the presence of absence )

siberian-winter-white-froth
foams from chemically induced-cope-hope

chemo-therapy-time-filler-killer
taxes environmentally-free energy

and she misses her own moonshine
under the rolled-lolled
scalped novice-nun shorn
shouldered-stardust-strata

she is not a planet-granite-grey
shaped by helix, dna and heartfelt-heritage
nor simply hips that outgrew rotational pull
of hula hoops to sashay
sauntering sensually in the sway
of feminity

the seasons are like sisters
family foe and friends
in flesh and talking bones
they are the ever changing light
of what we seek
and what
what we find within them

maybe the owl in howl
was misheard
could he have said instead
t'wit
twit
t'wit
t'rue

the journey

the journey
you were given
was a beginning
and an end

what you made of the middle
was like the hey-diddle-diddle
of the cat and the fiddle

pretty much up to you
which way you saw the moon

Oh my. This is a wonderful poem, unique word constructs as if created on purpose for this expression of a poet's truth. Strong, confident and flowing. Great work. Thank you for this entry.

      Miss P...

Thankyou...if Rust Job confirms it...it's worth thinking about it...thankyou kindly for the mightytribulation...i no longer need de-fibrulation...not since the episode in an ambulance with a red-satin wonder bra...omg all those gasps and relentless questions when 300mg of aspirin from the willow tree would do...cardiac-care isn't what it used to be...birds like snakes...mmmm...always food for thought from your shiny synapses...methinks snakes slither and at least birds...like thoughts...fly...hey you're up early/late...are you wired like me...haven't slept 'round the ol' tickety-tock...have been rambling since everyone else here passed out lol...

I was wired---I was out playing records, and it always takes me about 4 hours to wind-down after

anyway, I was thinking of 'shedding'

it's more of a mole-hill so you won't need your boots...barefoot will do!

              oh...

swiftly removes boots and back to barefoot * catches rope*

lol at more of a mole-hill as in all honesty the energy levels aren't up for anyting higher at the mo

              talking of higher
              heard anymore bout the collab
              between Roots and Blunt?

The higher reminded me of his voice

plus of course swinging around on this rope at this altitude lol

My dearest friend .. you have managed to do something that no person has ever done before .. leave me speechless. I can honestly say I have never read anything that held me so tightly as this did.

My only little comment would be that there are perhaps a few to many hyphonated words .. I'd want to keep them special, because the way you use them is special by putting a lot in they become the norm.

Gotta say loving this postcard series of yours...

They always make for an intriguing read...

And maybe the owl asks 'Who? Who? Who?' questioning responsibility of so much change & destruction in an ever spoiling world... Sorry, my turn to ramble... lol!

As always, wonderful bouncy, flowing narrative that enthralled throughout...
    Keep up the good work...
    Well done!!!

    Bluebells for the poet!
Throngs and carriages full of bluebells for my sweet poet!
    The moon above your head..
and the road beneath your feet....
what more can a gypsy want....
The tempo is just great....the word play and prospective
    are second to none....
you fill me up with rhyme and wonder and such joy that your in this world with me...
at the same moment in time we live..
    and share ...
this must be what it's all about....
    words for the ages....
echoing against the high ceilings of taverns...
    books of days of yore...
wenches and kings with paupers and thieves and God and hate ...
    mixed with lust and merriment...
    and cobblestone and meadows..
with beautiful eyes that catch the night...
and tears that ring down through the ages...
sharing it all with my Queen of the slip stream...
    my princess on paper....
my light that shares this one moment with me...
    this height of ecstasy..
where words meet the lonely heart...
    that makes it whole again.
this must be what paradise is like.

    Beautiful,
    just beautiful,
    Liam

    excellent

the imagery the use of rhyme and alliteration are all excellent as are the ideas expressed in this wonderful piece. a bit like the seven ages of man/woman.each little stanza says so much.this poem has to be read really slowly to let the subtlety of the words come through.if you were on stage we would be shouting for more.

    Amazing

Extraordinary write, a piece that must be read several times. Love this for some reason:
"what you made of the middle
    was like the hey-diddle-diddle
of the cat and the fiddle"...Good job

    I simply love this
    "the seasons are like sisters
    family foe and friends
    in flesh and talking bones
they are the ever changing light
    of what we seek
    and what
    what we find within them"
(filing this away to squeeze some essence from it for another time)
Your poem flashes with images as if flipping through an illustrated book, a hatchling's view through the eggshell is such a great way to initiate a poem about life.

A very complex piece which I think shows life is confusing to say the least, and in the end the choice is yours. Very well thought out, with imagination used to advantage.
