vague sounds echo from dirty bare walls
the piano covered with accumulated grime
an old man hears a far different song
gay tunes and liquor pervade the hall
a broken window adds new shame
cold air fills his tarnished brain
he can't remember his favorite friends
failing eyesight gives him little comfort
don't cut your hands on the keyboard glass
take only memories and a quick escape

Once again, you have painted a picture of blinding clarity in my poet’s imagination.
The bar is now derelict after the ravages of the hurricane and the old blues pianist’s fingers are ravaged by arthritis. All he has left are his memories and the old twelve bar blues tunes that echo on in his head.
Thanks for posting this,
Love, Peter

Good job! I like how you built the scene of the glass on the piano. That was very unique. I also like your image of the old man, good job. Interesting poem, good job. Thanks for entering and good luck!
