Canopy protects
all life teeming below
filtering harsh sunlight
that graces nature's skies.
In strength of will
so tall and proud
yet swaying in softest breeze,
roots weaving for eternity
such sentinals of
life's regeneration.
Yet visionary beauty is blinded
by emerald eyes of greed and jealousy,
where profit suckles emptiness
and 'Trufulla' trees become extinct.
Knarled and bent in wisdom's book
circles keeping history's many secrets,
what need is there for diaries
for all speech sways in silent glory.
And gently do the tips paint sighs
upon an angry sky,
in balance this painting majestically
speaks more than hollowed words.

I like the implication that trees are both strong and flexible. Nice images here. It begins in light and finds a slightly sinister tone with the invocation of 'Truffula.' The last stanza was my favorite. Back to light. I bet tree sitters would really dig this one. Thanks for entering.

"In strength of will
so tall and proud
yet swaying in softest breeze"
these lines have a haiku-like quality that I love.
the last stanza is so good... I love the idea of tips painting sighs... even thought the sky is angry.
"hollowed words" expresses a sad truth ):
