Disconnected

Yesterday;
blindsided by desperation
I called you,
left a message
that simply said;

"I need your help"

You never called back.
Guess, the walking dead
can't answer their voice mail.

I should have never tried to ressurect you.
I'm left here feeling stupid
for even attempting to communicate
with someone buried so long ago.

Guess, the ones that are suppose to talk to me,
will.
Simply because they have in the past.

It's the living zombies
that affect me in the worst way;
like that first bone-chill of winter
that flakes against my cheek,
making my teeth chatter...

Hope you made your way
back to that dark,
dank crypt of yours
without delay or troubles.

Help came without you,
and the need dissappeared
as if it was your vapor
that was once my life.

    Funny how the "walking dead" can always reach us though, isn't it? How we are always the suckers getting hoovered right back in and playing hero to their every whim...seems as if I have some issues, wouldn't you say, sweet Renee? LMAO~ What can we do? It's just not in our nature to let it go to voicemail, to be the "walking dead". Double-edge sword....with a bittersweet after taste.

    At least we have each other. Call me, baby~ I will always answer.

    Love you,
    Deena

    I hope I have never been that 'walking dead' person to someone. This poem left me sitting here thinking about how busy we get and then don't have time for what really matters. (Seems to be my theme today). Maybe it is a subtle way of God telling me to stop and smell the roses along the way.

    Everytime we count on humans we will always be disappointed, but when we give ourselves to God he will always be there to answer the call of need as long as we have faith and believe. Thanks for sharing this with me and I wish you the best in the contest. God bless you and yours...

    wow...

    powerful, i'm floored by this piece! wow.. your last stanza just turned my senses to mush..
    "Help came without you,
    and the need dissappeared
    as if it was your vapor
    that was once my life." it's more about the simplicity of this statement that makes it so powerful..wow my friend..good stuff.
