These words are wise, and sound as if they spilled from the lips of my saintly grandmother.
EXQUISITE!
Your poem so reminds me of a lesson my uncle taught me about "curiosity" as a youngster. Someday I must share that story with you.

But don't you know curiosity kills the cat or so I've been told
but if it enlightens the forest maybe that myth isn't true after all!

haha... well, i was hoping that darkness would act as a metaphor for that which we don't know yet/have no knowledge about (aka the unknown), with curiosity being the way in which to discover and reveal this... but yes i believe it also kills cats too
