~ Peoples Exhibit ~

Exhibit A:
Tables turned, musical chairs pulled out
from under angelic frame
in anticipation of blind guests who gathered
consciously- constructed amidst
unconscious infrastructure made resilient.

Days mourned into weeks, months
bled atop hours lost in Life's limbo
when Spirit spared Change.

Curiosity watched pennies pinched
fall from Heaven's pocket.

Exhibit B:
Real outcome yearned to be believed
within colored orbs spoken outright
while lies dribbled from both sides of mouth.

People prayed with droopy lids
became scapegoats, skewered Martyrs
impaled with lack of empathic ease.

[Two legged imperfection idolized]

while each person faced false illusion
from skies their human totem treasure
had breached with collective Wisdom
copy-pasted onto toilet paper scrolls.

Exhibit C:
Evidence found, collected within Eden's
informal outhouse human hands erected;
dirtied in Pride putty had molded, made
into life size Gumby glamourized
alongside persistent side-kick Pokey.
(Just a little immoral ball of clay)

Constituents believed, bowed at feet
cemented in irrational behavior.
Complimented with desperate words
written for cheap porn, chewed- spit
back at serene face seen
once framed in God's ever loving palms.

Reality slipped boldly between
His interlocked fingers and traveled
without protection. (Man went viral)

Exhibit D:
All ten tips calloused, notably severed
after last Mortal leg (human tried to stand on)
collapsed.

Man bragged about deeds brazenly
to virgin ears Ego forcibly popped.

Aftermath realized during 'Born Again'
festivities nobody in the compound lived through
after vows of silence swallowed.

Penance paid to their leader Jim Jones
who hired new road manager- Belial.
Demon recited for the record:
Human Soul sold with pet projects
in calcified cages.

  • ok, lacking much religious knowledge I am afraid I have missed much of the references here; still I love the use of language and the undertone of sickened disbelief at how foolishly ignorant people can be.

Amazing vignettes that are hard hitting and so real. I loved the Jamestown reference. It so accurately displays how easily man can be swayed and controlled by contrived faith.

Another brilliant poem in this round that merits multiple reads for its impeccable message and insight. A wonderful mind shows in this skillfully written piece.

    "People prayed with droopy lids
    became scapegoats, skewered Martyrs
impaled with lack of empathic ease."

These lines stand out for me with an impact so intense in its truth, I nearly lost my breath.

Bravo poet for an intellectual, factual, and brilliant entry. Amazing work. ~Pamela

This was one marvelous image upon another. I'm sure I barely scratched the surface in one reading because this poem is filled with metaphors and brilliant language. I intend to read it several more times. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz
