A simple word
With a simple meaning
It’s time to look past
What you think you’re seeing
Look down in
The depths of it all
Way down where
The true meaning falls
A person can paint
A smile on their face
And inside be filled
With dread and disgrace
The ocean can look calm
With a war down below
Its past what you see
Past what you know
A tree can stand tall
And be falling apart
A person can laugh
With a broken heart
Two people can look the same
And still be their own
Someone can have friends
And still be alone
So maybe you’ll see
When meanings start to fall
Ordinary, isn’t so ordinary

I had to write a poem in my poetry class after watching the movie Dead Poets Society. It had to touch on what if the themes, and this is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy. :]
