if trees could speak
what would this one say?
would he say "go away"
or ask me to play?
would he tell me stories
of all that he's seen
or tell me the dreams
he wished could have been
if trees could scream
do you imagine they'd cry
as you tore off their limbs
and watched them slowly die?
if.
if trees could speak.
if only.

Wonderful thoughts indeed.

For some reason this poem reminded me of the scene in the Wizard of Oz where the trees got pissed off at Dorothy for picking their apples. While trees don't speak as we do in a literal sense I have always gotten the impression that they are full of wisdom and able to communicate. Nice poem. Thank you for entering.

So creative lass...
It is quite a thought....
we would learn much..
hope there are enough around
to tell us
if they ever decide to speak...lol...
Imagination and well placed words made this a very interesting piece.
Thank you so much for taking time from your life to read my work lass...
all my poems are like my children...they love attention..lol
Me Irish grand ma used to tell me...
Write something grand,
for you may be
entertaining Angels,
Unaware.
