The rain is pouring on my roof,
and against the window pane.
The fire is smoldering in the hearth,
its just a dying flame.
On nights like this we cuddled here,
and slowly sipped some wine.
It was so much an awesome love ,
I was yours, and you were mine.
Who knows why he ran the red light,
just at the moment you came by.
Now your never coming home to me,
and I set here alone and cry.
Lightning flashes and thunder rolls ,
my Jack Daniels glass I’m draining.
I’m safe inside out of the storm,
but in my heart it’s raining.

This is so sad. To think of someone sitting there pining away for a lost love is heartbreaking. You did a great job of using the raining in the heart line. That is so perfect and ends this poem beautifully. I was thinking as i started reading this, how cold it is at the moment, and raining and your poem seemed to take on life because it fitted so well. As if you had just written it. Your flow, rhyme and rhythm were just spot on. Just so special.
