Lovers in forgotten mists
talk inside a shroud
soft words of lingered yesterdays
tender, caring, proud.
They faced the wrath, society
in times yet unaware
hurtful words, so painful
cruel, deep, unfair.
They told the world with opened hearts
their feelings deep inside
but a world of condemnation
scorned them as they died.
Promises from dying lips
their lover's oath they keep
in death they stand together
their eyes no longer weep.

Touchingly raw and deep this is a beautiful take on the picture with the love and beauty flowing so softly together with the sadness
