A shard of glass
pierces the skin
No problem,
just a small cut
You clean the wound
and let it heal
But no,
a few days later
The shard of glass returns
cutting deeper, more painful
Already a healing wound,
is opened once again
Here comes the glass
Deeper and deeper it drives
What will you do?
What can you do?
Well, if you leave the shard in,
you will surely die
But don't you know if you pull it out,
You'll bleed to death?
Yup

I love the philosophical feel this has to it. Your metaphor definitely makes one think. Very well done.
