Dance In The Rain

The heat is overpowering as the night is drawing in
it’s just another humid Summers day,
the breeze gives little respite and sweat glistens on our skin
it seems that this is not the time to play.

The air is thick and heavy with the promise of a storm
the weatherman assures us we’ll get wet,
all the fans are blowing but the air is very warm
our clothes are sticking to us with the sweat.

In the distance there’s a rumble and the sky is turning black
the radio is playing soft and low,
the lightning is flashing and the thunder starts to crack
the clouds have covered up the moonlight’s glow.

The first rain drops are falling soon relief will be in sight
we both rush from the house as though insane,
we turned up the radio on this very stormy night
it felt so good to just dance in the rain.

I typically dislike rhyming poetry. I see it often constrain a person's choice in words and emotions, and it upsets me. But this was a great example of a poem that can rhyme, but it's not ABOUT the rhyme. Everything flows seamlessly. You did a great job here.

    Excellent

    Such images your words inspire
but, do ladies sweat, or just perspire
No matter which, this piece portrays
the beauty of those balmy days
Who? reading this could not refrain
from dancing naked in the rain
