Rainbow Sunset

Laying on a grassy hill
Under my maple tree
My long blonde hair blowing softly
In the warm summer night’s breeze.

What a beautiful sunset
Falling below the horizon
No clouds, no fog
I can feel something within.

Red and Orange
Yellow and Green
Blue and Indigo
So Intriguing.

It’s on the verge of night
And the ending of day
Reflecting back in my eyes
Will it forever stay?

The stars just waking up
To light the beautiful sky
To shine their very brightest
To hush every cry.

I close my eyes lightly
Drifting into a gentle sleep
Dreaming of the sunset
I wish to one day keep.

Author notes

Yeah, I wrote this in the actual spot I described it. The sunset was amazing that night. You really can find beauty in nature. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed it.

    10/10

Writing poetry at the spare of the moment can bring something really special to paper and this is one of those poems that do that. I get the feeling that I'm there in this poem, it reminds me of a warm summers evening
    Great work, thanks for sharing.
