His roots originally Irish yet
He wrought havoc in Australia,
He never will be forgotten,
There's paraphernalia in every store
What a life he must have led,
Worshipped by some, despised by others,
Adored by his mother and brothers,
He was a person, not a sheep to follow the flock
As he was led to be hanged,
I believe he was imagining his life,
He'd had lots of time to think in which,
He reflected on the past
I think that he'd decided
He'd had one hell of a time,
Now it was time to pay the price,
The time had come, thus 'Such is life'

A nice encapsulation of Ned's life. I like the double meaning in 'one hell of a time'. Thank you for this entry.

(shane writing under georgies account atm as georgie refuses to get off till my computer is set up lol) i have changed the first line to express it better. i did mean by heritage but it read the wrong way.

Well written! My only quibble is that Ned was born in Australia not Ireland (first line). He was born in 1855 at Beveridge in Victoria. Nice poem!

BLAMEITONTHEKELLYS
an excellent ode to person whom should have been a hero but folks have been in denial fo many years ...ya should read the Gerilderry Letters(probably spelt wrong ) these letters however spoke of the tyranny and persecution the rich land owners placed on poor ex conv settlers ...

Interesting
Lifes choices can lead to bad endings. But to leave so many memories. Honestly how many do become famous?
