Final Rest

What Tis a name that which we call a rose by any other.
what tis a person without a life, a souless weakling.
my eyes bleed black from the mascara that runs so deep
it pours into my veins coloring my heart the darkest of shades
my mind between whats reality and play
the sharpest knife cuts my throat, you watch the crimson poisen flow.
am i damned and unloved?
wretched  phantom banish me now
so i may not walk among the living
but rejoyce among the dead
my interactions go no futher than the grave
so take this lonely heart and antisapate my fate in your fingertips
my life slowly fades and its your fault at hand.
whispering lies into the ears of my corpse
spilling secrets you never wanted me to hear
calling me names that would bring tears to my eyes, but alas
what tis a name that which we call
a rose by any other?

Author notes

i wrote this back in November of last year and just never posted it, so with the help of my Wifey[Salt Therapy] i made a few changes and got a title for it, hope you enjoy.

    i enjoyed

  • The imagery in this was very beautiful. The one thing that caught me up though was how you starting writing the poem with a sort of older form of writing (using "tis") and then didn't continue writing like that until the second to last line. It almost seems awkward, like it doesn't belong in the poem.

But otherwise I really enjoyed reading this, the metaphors were great and really brought the message of the poem out. Good luck in your contest!

Hmm, interesting poem. This was very well penned. Of course Kerri helps everything . I love the word choice and the imagery you evoked. The emotion and the context is great to. I'm not sure I like the word 'tis' though. It seems weird where its placed. But other than that its really good. Great job and keep it up.
