Lost in this world

I seek your help

you're always there for me

giving me advice

family thinks I'm insane

that don't know what lurks

excruciating pain felt

every breath I take

Schizophrenia

my only friend

I beg of you

with all of my heart

please take me away

so far from here

This is a touching take on the prompt, and such a vivid view into the life of someone who struggles with schizophrenia or aother mental ilness. Clear imagery here. Thanks so much for sharing this poem. Blessings, Patty

    Hi Jeremy,
I can understand what you're saying here. It is hard having mental illness, and having those in our families who think we are "crazy". I am schizoaffective, among others. I can't say I know your pain, I don't think anyone can truly know what another person feels, or on what level they are feeling it. But I can tell you I'm sure we share similar difficulties in some areas of our lives.
    BTW-nice to meet you.
    ~Monica

    I don't believe in imagination
unless I know it is real
    like thinking of a situation
that I've been in a great deal

A dream is not what's seen awake
What comes may not be good
but even if it's hard to take
No fear comes from what's understood

Excellent take on the prompt, gives the reader much to ponder and think about. Schizophrenia although bad for the afflicted, your poem highlights this sad and debilitating mental problem...best to you in the contest brother ... s

    I love...

...how twisted this piece is...I like where no one is there the subject turns to his vices in desperation! Good luck in the contest!
