The Forbidden Gate

I've heard a million stories about this house.

What lies beyond this gate is complete terror yet,

my curiosity has gotten the very best of me.

With a fearful but eager heart I step through it,

and walk the weary path to the front door.

I hear a strange sound from behind me.

I look to find that no one is there.

I tremble and say a silent prayer,

that it's only my over active imagination.

All of a sudden the sound stops.

There is nothing but absolute silence.

The birds and butterflies have all vanished into thin air.

I turn around and proceed to the door.

Walking up the four steps I hear a whisper,

someone or something is telling me to turn back.

I ignore the friendly presence and take the last step.

Touching the door knob, I find that it opens on its own.

It swings back and hits the wall with great force.

I take a step back and try to run back out.

All of a sudden I feel a hand forcefully push me forward.

The door slams behind me and there is nothing but darkness.

I fall hard onto the floor inside the house and listen

I feel the hands of death as they reach for me.

I claw and scream into the night as they drag me away.

Deeper into this house of horrific terror.

My eyes begin to tear knowing deep inside,

that I may never leave here.

Their evil souls pay no attention at all,

as they feed on my fear and anger.

I feel my body as it starts to go limp.

They each take turns devouring my soul.

As I lie nailed onto the cold wall behind me.

I take my last breath and close my eyes.

The evil spirits then leave my hollowed body.

They all fly away eagerly and wait near the gate,

for the next innocent and naive soul to walk in.
