Fish Slapping Parrots and Lumberjack loons
Man I laugh at the ekky weird cartoons
The life of Brian has messed up my head
And Slicing the knight has a lump of bread
Furry dead animals stuffed with wooden toys
Racing through time with the Pirate boys
Parts of the world Enjoyed by the most
Even now I like custard with toast
Heads up Mr Tracey you look a bit spacey
Live by the sea to the monsters that be
Little Town Philosophers getting drunk in the local
and big time Bankers buildings become vocal
Sailing away to the dark blue beyond
Adventures we travel and ladies second
Lumberjacks in dresses camping in balls
And people at feasting knife fork and talls
Someones invading it cannot be Gauls
For Grannies revolting cleaning up the malls
So who is this show that we call Monty
Simply a shadow of all that we be
For we always look better on the bright-side of death
and catch every leaning with absence of breath
so wishing and wanting that's what laughter's do
Cut off your head and you might do it to

My daughter sent me this and I loved it!
Funny and thoughtful, and SO like something you'd expect from Monty Python, full of their humor and imagery!
Not sure how you did this...no WAY I could have come up with the prose, such great wording...and the rhyme is excellent, written as the "old poets" devised, often using words with the spelling similarity even though the pronunciation is slightly off. Beautiful!
And...I think a poem is really great when I can actually see/hear/feel, etc. just from the words, as if it were a painting. You painted it for me. (Even though it was an odd, humorous image! lol) Way to go!

I got to Fish slapping parrots and fell about laughing, what a splendiferous (is that word, well, it should be)image. A wonderful humourful tributr to the Monty Python team and with custard on toast not spam.

Last verse caught me- we are indeed here for a short time and long in the grave. I don't know how you made those diverse thoughts rhyme!? "English-types" Hadn't thought of that in years!!! Thanks, I'm off on my horse...well....click the shells together, mate- they're watching...

BUT I WANT TO....SING!
I'm on the third line and already in love.
Finished now....I LOVE Monty Python, and this poem is almost like a synopsis of the series, and all the movies (including Time Bandits) in just a few short words. Perhaps I'm just crazy, but I wish I was a lady, just like my dear Papa!
