There once lived a Maiden
She lived behind a wall
The wall was made of heavy stone
The Wall would never fall
In solitude she stayed
When morn turned into night
None could come to see her
For the wall was of great height
Many tried to bring them down
With force and frequent fire
But hope would often fade too soon
For force would tend to tire
It seemed that when the knights
Would try to bring them down
The maiden drew in deeper
For fear would thus surround
The knights’ hope began to wane
Their might and power failed
The walls would taunt and tower taller
The walls always prevailed
Then one day a peasant boy
Who was passing near the wall
Paused to stopped and linger longer
To view the wall so tall
He saw the maiden hidden deep
Behind this protective might
He saw the knights’ power fail
And all their wasted plight
The boy began to wonder
Why she was so afraid
He began to sing a song to her
And near to her he stayed
The song was soothing and so kind
With gentle tunes and tones
The maiden heard and curiosity grew
And soft became the stones
The boy continued to sing
And walls began to tumble
The maiden began to move
To nearer to the boy so humble
When finally she appeared
From behind the walls once strong
She came near the peasant boy
And loved him all lifelong
