The Rule

"Oh no, there she goes again!"
All that blonde hair, just when

Our boy stopped, counted to three
"Come on mate, just look and see!

She's just a girl, that's all she is!"
But our boy wanted her. She was his.

He took a deep breath, began to walk
But then his mind, began to mock

"She'll never love you," it did say
But he knew he'd try, come what may

And then she looked back; that's all it took
His palms turned cold and his knees just shook

She glanced at our boy, even gave him a smile,
Thunder shot through his legs all of the while

But then oh no, who do we have here?
Arm wrapping her waist, he was coming so near!

But 'twas not our boy's, but another's arm
Who dared lace his hand within her palm

The thunder disappeared, the storm was gone
'Twas just another heartbreak, just another con

Our boy's mind said, "See, I told you so."
And he was left feeling oh so low

And then he resolved amidst all of that pain
That he would never let this happen again

Oh, a young boy's heart be fragile and kind
I know, for I be that young boy's mind

Who told him over and out,
That love just isn't about

The way she makes you feel, instead
It's when you dare not lose your head.

And then these boys will learn this rule:
If thou trust thy heart far too much

Thou be the greatest fool.
