.
Communication.
A sterile word,
Inexplicably exciting
To academics and therapists.
So commonly mis-interpreted
As "Talk to me".
Why do you want to talk to me,
Talk a little,
Then talk some more?
Find a new language.
Let your feelings guide a physical gesture.
Actions speak louder than words
If only to those prepared to listen.
"I love you";
Spoken words,
Mean death to a romance
Built on tenderness and care,
Or a newfound passion struck -
In the heat of the moment -
In a wordless dance.
"We need to talk";
Another destructive phrase
The world could do without.
Replace it with a gesture:
A gift,
A smile,
A hand outstretched - an offer of kindness.
Replace it with a thought -
Forgiveness?
Repentance?
Capacity to listen to the silence.
Replace the words.
Communication?
It doesn't need a name
A boundary
Set it free.

Intriguing!
This was a marvelous discourse on
the prompt. You had a lot of interesting
viewpoints that were worth contemplating.
The concept of communication and emotions
married together for a deeper kind of
relating based on love and respect was
brilliant I think. This was an important
entry that is noteworthy. Thanks for entering.
Best wishes in the contest
