At the precipice of impossible
Drowning in a sea of white hatred
Clutching the lessons taught in schoolbooks
Each time shredded at the polls
Bloodied hands...skinned knees
Crawling dodging the lying masses
The American Dream raped by the Mason Dixon line
American Dream? You are mistaken..it is only for me and mine
Silly girl! Those founding fathers didn't mean you!!
Those heroes? They are pages in an old satchel
Don't think you deserve a place
Just as we did to Martin and John...we'll put you down
But, me and mine we've grown strong
from the beatings
from the cheatings
from the ignorance
I have never believed in you and me
Only We
We the People
We the forsaken
We will overcome
At the precipice of impossible
Swimming in a sea of believers
We
have nothing to lose
have come to take our place
are legion
are the American Dream

New Democratic vistas, uttering again the word en-masse, reverberation of fault-line slippage, listening for the harmonics or dissonance of change...

A inspiring write! Yes it is our time and we will keep up the fight until equality is acknowledged!
I love the action words, "drowning, clutching, dodging, crawling, swimming. It gives this poem so much depth.
