It begins with innocence, the
way the children built their castles with
wooden blocks in Kindergarten classrooms, the
way the children built their castles,
with wet sand and grimy sea water,
only to tear it down in a fit of rage
only to wash it away in the rising tide.
Give them a mountain, they will say you have
drowned them, Give them a friend and they will
hide away.
It ends with resentment, the
way the children will learn
to hate you, Watch them
tear down all of their castles watch
them beat down all of this, everyone they
hated, everyone they could have loved.

the image of building up to only tear down is so strong. this hits a personal note with me... of someone building me up, to tear me down, in a fit of selfishness and self righteousness, of envy. children are innocent to what the meaning is behind their actions.
and THAT is why as we are torn down too many times, we build fortresses around our castles where we can live with minimal the fear of pain, but also losing the lifeline of love.
sad, thought-provoking piece.

oh the blocks in kindergarten and the castles on the beach ... and the way they get taken apart whether we like it or not ... the sad sad truth always wins ...

hmm this was a refreshing read, i liked the metaphor here, seeing as this world can easily resemble a childs play pen, Only the mind of a child could rationalize so freely, adulthoods dampens our perception, god would have to be a child.

Hey this is good...I liked the thoughts you brought out on this..
I have seen children doing this, building things and then wanting to wreck what they had spent happy time building.
A nice take on this...thanks for sharing.

Touching and heartfelt here, a message for all of us, how we grow and everything...
It's amazing...
