Banished...-

*

I shall not once more grace these halls alive,
For I am banished to green isles afar,
Without your kiss, how there can I survive?
Alone, on emerald seas awash with stars.

Our way was one of shadowy moonbeams,
That cast its yellow rays on silken skin,
The hours we whiled away with wondrous dreams,
They say it was for us disgraceful sin.

I cannot; shall not; will not; forget you,
For our love was the love of minstrel’s song,
Whence walking sands and surf till mornings hue,
There in my heart you ever more belong.

I beg ye, quench the candle before gone,
Thence ring the bell and close the book fore dawn.

      Thank you Di

You don't read me often. So I entered the contest.

We are both suckers for love themes.

Lovely phrased verse you've penned. Has a tantalizing tinge of the master's. The depth of romantic dedication is sad and heart wrenching.Nicely done.

This is quite romantic, and the imagery is fantastic, love this write. There is no one favorite part, the effect of the whole affects the heart and moves the reader in all the vital imagery and metaphors. It is cast, a beautiful poem. Well done my friend.

I saw the requirements for this contest and loved the way you took it and turned it into this beautiful piece if seeming somewhat sad.
Excellent good luck in the contest
