Better Off On The Sidewalk

Chorus:
"Stop the fucking car; I've seen a stranger"
He stared at me like I was touching myself
And I smiled to the little man. (x2)

His eyes screamed out danger
But his face had had fun.
Life's a threat, no one's fine.
No one's okay. Alright?
When I leave this city, I swear you'll smile too

Nothing changes when the lights go down
No one laughs like the friends that I've got
Nothing changes when we leave this town
Nobody loves me, but they give it a shot
They give it good.

(chorus)

Let me sleep inside my favourite arms
And feel you lying next to me
You protect me from all the world's harm
And you make my heart feel free

We're better off on the sidewalk
Life's better off on the street
Don't leave a house passed 9 o'clock
Don't trust everyone that you meet

Take the side road and do as you should
Wish as I do on every star
If you do as I say, you'll do something good
so cut the fucking engine, and stop this car

(chorus)

I wish - I need - I have - I want
I dream – I be – I was – I am
Destroy what I’ve become
Please sleep tight in all my flaws

Tomorrow’s just another night
And the streets are just as rude
I’d say doll; you’re better off on the sidewalk. I’ve said you’re better off on the sidewalk.

(chorus)

    Excellent

For a rough work this is very well written, I like the flow quite a bit, I feel it follows the subject of the piece to a tee. I will admit, however, that I think some slight reworking of the wording in the second and third stanzas would impact the fluidity significantly, however not doing so would not hurt at all. I like that the emotions are readily aparent and poignant but are not overly heavy. All in all, excellent.
