Sublime Surrender

Sublime Surrender
by Darmok
11/17/08

At willow’s end,
Bordering a parcel of turned earth,
Where the last of the corn stalks lay.

Is stubbled straw
Where pheasants birth
The wind, the rocks and clay.

In the tall grass now golden in fall,
blade strings pluck,
A gentle harp.

A wanting wind,
Wanders this way...
Discovers her tune in play.
And calms the hungry lust of day,
In sublime surrender of golden hay.

I love the picture/poem combination. Every line is stuffed with imagery, so much that even without the picture I think I would have still seen the same thing. well done!

      Sometimes it works

On a good day, I can write something worthy of comment; I appreciate your reflection and immersion into the poem; that's the good stuff....a poem that can do that for the reader...guide their senses along the journey where thought and the minds' eye join...a virtual moment of being....feeling the poem, seeing the poem, experiencing the emotions the writer imparts. Thanks for being so receptive and generous with your comments.

ps. I humbly submit, sometimes I just don't connect properly with that muse ...one in 50 just might

93 and Silver, After having 'not written' anything in months x 9, I was pleased with this write as well. I was lucky this day to have my muse nearby; these words indeed were carried upon the winds they serve. I appreciate your read and thoughtful comments. Darmok

This is lovely. One of the descriptions that stuck in my mind was "A gentle harp." I think the way you used it was captivating.

What gorgeous words! What a beautiful poem with an image so perfect. I can see the corn husks and the wind wisking the straw on the ground.

Wow this was an amazing poem. The picture also goes perfect with it. "A wanting wind,
    Wanders this way...
Discovers her tune in play" Great line. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work. Oh and nice background also. Everything tied together with this poem, great job.

How pensive this sounds.... one yearns to be in this yellowed field and envelope its silence. Beautiful! Glad I stopped by....
    Peace.
