I know what you're thinking

(Pre-poem thoughts)
Sleep walker, I'm thinking.
Darn, I spelled it wrong.
Think, Jamie, think!
Okay.
I know what to say now.

(Poem)
I know what you're thinking,
I know what you see,
but this isn't how
it's supposed to be.

It's these God be damned choices,
always pushed on my shoulders,
so I stand like Atlas
with the weight of the world.

I know what you're thinking,
about to give up on me,
but I still do love you.
Why can't you see?

And why does this always
happen to me?

Mercury, quiksilver
runs through these veins,
chilled but still liquid,
poison and ice.

Pen across paper,
ink across hand,
staining the world black
as only we can.

I know what you're thinking,
and I'll help you see,
the perfect girl for you
has to be me.

It just has to be,
can you not see?

This is the way it was meant to be.

Well, what do you think?
