Around the Corner and a Mile Away

The days fly by

And sometimes; they crawl

The clock counts down

And yet time moves barely at all

I see in your eyes

What the future can bring

Those days seem so far away

And yet so close to me

Our day is just around the corner

And somehow a mile away

On the calendar it’s nearing

And yet forever and a day

It stands two feet from my reach

But my arms just can’t take hold

The day is nearing with speed

It’s almost too much to behold

And yet within a blink of an eye

Our day has finally arrived

And with the words I do

My heart is forever revived

Author notes

I wrote this poem a matter of weeks before my wedding. It is about how close our wedding day is, but somehow it felt like it would never come. It felt like it was years away.

What did you think

It does seem that way, I been in a couple of weddings but only as the bridesmaid. IThe wedding day also seems so far away but has a way of sneaking up on you.
