Callling to the Void

This is it now,
I have to let you go.
I tried calling,
across the void between us,
but you didn't hear me.
If we had only lived my dream,
we'd be in each others arms,
touching skin,
learning curves,
shuddering in anticipation.
Instead I cry alone,
realising I meant nothing,
not even a friend.
How this dependence started,
I know not what is beyond me.
But I have to stop my dreams,
they turn to nightmares,
upon waking to reality.
I tried calling out to you,
across the void between,
but you chose not to answer,
and so with the heaviest of hearts,
I must try to let you go.

Author notes

This one is for all of you out there who thought, "I'll try to repair what was broken" and reach out giving a sign of "hey maybe we should talk", only to get no response or have it thrown back at you. Then begins the hard part of really saying to yourself "I've got to let go now, I have no choice."
I know because I tried it and they didn't even reply. I'm just really stuck at the "letting go" part.

  • I like the 3 L's in your title for effect! Great write about letting go.
I liked how you shared your dream, ("If we had only lived my dream,
we'd be in each others arms,
    touching skin,
    learning curves,
    shuddering in anticipation.
    Instead I cry alone,
    realising I meant nothing,
    not even a friend.")
and then let us feel the crash like the moonlight on a shore.
When this ended, I only wanted more!
    Great writing my friend!
