counted pennies
stacked high
against reason
every dollar
bought decision
watched cards fall
choices in suits
intent curved
bounced back

Wonderful word choices in what is a very subtle poem. Good job! Thanks for entering!

Now I wonder if you were part of the stakes or just another gambler seeing if the cards give a positive return for efforts to learn the odds. The last three lines take the vision of a back room with gamblers crowded around a green table and make it feel that life is the gamble and the returns are not all good.
