    Now I wonder if you were part of the stakes or just another gambler seeing if the cards give a positive return for efforts to learn the odds. The last three lines take the vision of a back room with gamblers crowded around a green table and make it feel that life is the gamble and the returns are not all good.

      Tom, life is full of gambles but sometimes we play a hand knowing full well what the other players have up their sleeves. I think perhaps it gives us the upper hand.
