notorious

.

insomnia stumbles
on the weighted wings
of boredom

and the clock-eyes
glare, with a pattern
never acknowledged

.

night-sick is here;
an inundation of
anxieties

i am hard-pressed
to let go of

.

the fridge betrayed me,
for nothing but
week-old chinese
and swirling mold

but nestled in the door
a carbonated reminder

.

sometimes
a well placed semi-colon
is enough to make
my overtired muscles
smile-twitch

and secretly -
i am addicted to the
vicarious joys
of skilled snapshots

.

Author notes

This is a dedication to Jessica ( http://allpoetry.com/notorious ) who can make all the bad thoughts disappear with one wave of her talented pen ... my favorite parts of her writing are the original metaphors and imagery - and her amazingly brilliant (really I can't say enough good words about them) snapshots of real life and people that she knows I definitely recommend that you check out her work!

Also - the carbonated reminder refers to her attempts to introduce me to the wonders of lemonade

I like how you get through your days, you need someone to cuddle up to (heal the boredom)This is both amusing and worriesome re your mouldy chinese.
I loved the tongue in cheek attitude.

This was nice, I could see how much she means to you (especially in the final two stazas). I could see where someone might be mistaken to interpret this as being about insomnia. I'm not as keen on lemonade as I used to be but I appreciate the reference. Cheers

    Outstanding

This is a great tribute poem to a fellow poet. I will have to check out her work. I liked how you described sleeplessness and the way the fridge let you down- mine gets raided so badly there is rarely anything left. This has some great images and I liked the alliteration in the last stanza. Best of luck in the contest.

I'm not your favorite AP poet, I can't possibly be! LoL

    I can't believe you wrote me a dedication poem...LMAO.
    Wow, thanks a shitload

When you showed me those first 2 stanzas,
I had no idea what the context was...I thought maybe you were talking about well, insomnia.
But put the whole poem together and damn,
it's like a Pollack painting of AWESOMENESS .

I'm not sure I agree with everything you're saying...LoL, you're so flattering But this is so well-written.

    jesus.

Did I say thank you already?

    You know...
    I actually do have insomnia.
It's probably self-induced, since I take these awful naps that kill my circadian rhythm.

    "and the clock-eyes
    glare, with a pattern
    never acknowledged"
    I ♥LOVEEEE it
Hmm...is this your way of saying I'm not acknowledging that my poetry is good? Because it's not. LoL.

    "the fridge betrayed me"
Kick-ass personification!! And LoL...when I open the fridge and don't find anything I want to eat, it's a betrayal of sorts.

    "week-old chinese"
    I'm Chinese As you know...LMFAO.
Mmm, I can picture you with a rotten muse (except your muse is never rotten ) and well, it's comical.

    "a carbonated reminder"
    HELLS YEAH!

Here is your...online Post-it from me:

    "Lemonade is good.
    You are good."

    "a well-placed semi-colon"
You are so much fun...I love how you've inserted both of us...what a great dedication poem this is, I'm honored.

    "and secretly -
    i am addicted to the
    vicarious joys
    of skilled snapshots"

    Oh my...
    it's not a secret anymore.
Again, I have to say I'm fucking honored you feel this way about my poetry.

    *runs away with compliments*

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I fucking love it, Lly.

              You...BARBIE fruitbag douchie mofo.
              That's right; the ultimate insult.

              You're modest.
              Sheesh.
              It's like a poet's rite of passage.
