just searching for your face
but everytime I caught your scent
it swiftly disappeared.
I thought I heard the spirits laugh
they led me on false paths
I sighed and then the tears began
the truth had slowly dawned.
For truly you were gone my love
but still you haunt me so
I wonder if the day will come
when hope no more will show.
Till then my love the search goes on
in spirit and in flesh
across the wild beyond and back
my heart still quivers yet.
I'll sit a moment listening
to symphonies of love
as it resounds finales drums
for never more you'll come.
Author notes
By Emilyn Dickinson
II
Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me;
The carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality.
We slowly drove, he knew no haste, 5
And I had put away
My labor, and my leisure too,
For his civility.
We passed the school where children played
At wrestling in a ring; 10
We passed the fields of gazing grain,
We passed the setting sun.
We paused before a house that seemed
A swelling of the ground;
The roof was scarcely visible, 15
The cornice but a mound.
Since then ’t is centuries; but each
Feels shorter than the day
I first surmised the horses’ heads
Were toward eternity. 20

I also wrote something to this poem by Dickinson.
It's not nearly this good, but the feelings are still there. My daughter Em was named for Emily, and she's hands down my enduring favorite.
Excellent work here, congratulations on the gold, and now I think I'm going to dig up that write and make it better.
Love,

Congratulations
on this gold trophy. I think you know more of Dickinson than I !
-
Congrats for the trophy ...
and for your poem that has a ring of certainty!
It made me aware of unknown loss as well as unknown gain when 'truth' is at issue. j

"as it responds finales drums" - this line definitely resonates with an Emily feeling. I like the write but somehow it sounds very modern for the most part!
Thank you for entering my contest. -

Thank you for the gold. I certainly wasn't expecting it in the light of your comments. But thank you so much.

Stunning, I don't think I can find another description. This is just beyond anything I have read in a long time! Best to you in the contest
