Fall

Humming sweet melodies your voice is
The essence of honey hope.
Your words skate gracefully over the frozen bitterness
Pooled in the footprints of loss.
Gentle tendrils of love spill from your lips
Warming my frozen fingertips in the flame of trust.
Eyes smoldering with tenderness see deep inside me,
Burning out the sorrows left by love’s harsh hands.

The dusty feathers of my broken wings strain against fear.
Thrusting past’s dirty black stain aside
My bruised wings thaw under a blazing sun.

Hands, like destiny, intertwine with the fire.
We step off the edge,
          We fall.

Spiraling, dancing upward in a brilliant sky of color,
These wings lift us higher and higher
Gliding on breezes of emerald joy
And sapphire euphoria.

Author notes

This poem turned out to be much sweeter and joyful than I thought it would but I guess it is just reflecting my mood. I love my FABULOUS muse!
