Rainy Day Love

Sweetness hung in the night's hot air
as we walked along the beach and kissed.
You held my hand and we played in the sand
and hope held my heart like a flower.

I lied in bed later that night
as lightning lit my lonely room.
And with every flash I wanted to ask
you to come and take me to safety.

During a long car ride on a rainy day
I listened to melodies and pictured us.
As the rain fell down I began to drown
in the thought of a future with you.

But now I am sitting all alone
torn apart by somebody else.
I wish it was you who ripped me in two
because then I'd know it was worth it.

I hoped that when you went away
my heart would forget you were here.
But I still remember and I will forever
the way I felt on that rainy day.
