The Congo

Child
crying
all alone
in the Congo
where violence is
taking lives all around
and safety does not exist
soldiers rage while gunfire streams
thousands of people fleeing their deaths

  ~ genocide orphans a generation ~

Author notes

My 1st attempt at an Etheree. The subject of the poem is very personal and heavy on my heart. We currently have a baby girl over there that we have adopted, but are having terrible problems finalizing the adoption and getting her home. We also have missionary friends over there. We are concerned about them and the people they are caring for, which includes many children.

Please tell me what you think

    praying for you!

  • Just read an article in the LA times about the 1.8 million Ugandans displaced by the 22-year battle between the government and the Lord's Resistance Army. The Congo violence slops over borders and makes it impossible for the people to have normal lives. Something has to be done. Thanks for a great write.

Your poem brings to light another hitrocity that weighs heavy on all of our minds.

My hope for you, is that you get your baby girl out of there and quickly and that your friends come home to where it is safe.

Nice job on the Etheree because you did it about something we all should care about!

The abominable horrors of the genocide taking place in Congo are shamelessly swept under the carpet by the media on order of those who trade money for blood. It is yet an other ink black page in the history of mankind that is being written. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care.

I dont know the etheree form, but I did enjoy your poem. I think there are many people who are not aware of the history of violence in the Congo.

    Great job.
