a look back in time
shows pure simplicity to the mind
all it has to do
is look down
down at the marks that will never go away
down at the lines that forever etch my past
bringing back all that pain
the torture of a swollen past
but look closer
and you catch a small glimpse
its the sight of survival
that I made it through the pain
that I still stand strong among the scrutiny
those who see begin to stare
as unwanted questions lead to a vacant expression
an answer enough for their soul
but they'll never understand
they see me as that poor little girl
but your pity is unwanted
I'm stronger than you will ever be

i really like this. scars don't just mean we are some poor little depressed child, but also that we are strong enough to make it through. great write!
