To walk the road of enlightenment,
in your heart you must believe
Should you blindly listen to the words of man,
for ages he has deceived
Its deep inside, we walk the path,
we all know right from wrong
To burn in the fire and brimstone,
is that where sinners do belong
To live a fate for eternity,
whether it be in heaven or in hell
For imperfect is the mind of man,
and both you can dispel
Truly it’s a war out there,
it all depends on what you seek
Believing with no worldly proof,
is not for those whose hearts are weak
The devil with all his dark mystique,
is said to drive mans lusty thoughts
But in God’s name so many have died,
by inquisitors so overwrought
Is it religion that makes us good or bad,
or is it in our genes
There has to be another way,
we can live in the in between
Good people do commit their sins,
not always acting so divine
Maybe it’s not the Devil or God,
but of our actions we are defined
Some may take the higher road,
it may lead them to an end
Others take one lesser traveled,
in their quest to comprehend
But all roads lead to paradise,
if you believe it in your soul
Isn’t that our destination in the end,
our search for feeling whole
