They used to plant herbs
and roam the earth freely
taking sufficient for their needs
Giving back to the earth
Caring, tending, growing life
until they longed for ease
Convenience became their catchphrase
Fast food their chant
Factories loomed
filled the air with poison
Chemicals were used in everything
No longer they gave
but raped the land
until it was barren, empty
Is it convenient to kill all life
To eliminate ones own race?
The absurdity is killing us
Technology has become
a noose around Gaia's neck
The past leads to the present
with its sour offerings
Humanity had no forethought
Conveniently I lay down my pen
in a place I shall not find it
for I'll not be needing it again

A strong message indeed and much to ponder. Your awareness should be shared with many. Well written my friend and well received!

Well written. I agree. We should think about this.

A very strong message in this piece. Though I do not generally agree on any level that we are the cause of global warming (the facts, figures and stats of which have also been massaged to twist it to Government's advantage) as I am absolutely dead cert that it is a natural cyclical occurance, we are certainly not helping matters and there is definately no need for the destruction and waste that we often cause.
Congrats on HM.
Good write.
