Strugglers on their weary road today
Have burdens on their shoulders hard to bear,
And if you listen you will hear them say
Please help us! But it seems there’s none to care
For we have burdens which we bear our self,
And we companions in their misery are,
But selfishness can overtake by stealth
And others problems looked on from afar.
But then a noble impulse on life’s road
Will point to them as weary they press on
Then urge us on to share their heavy load
And we in doing find our own cares gone.
That impulse now internalized we hear
Renews the mind to give us vision clear.

So true! When we turn away from the altar of ego and stop looking in the mirror and turn away to see others and to lend a helping hand, our own cares do fade! Good write! I enjoyed this and the wisdom it contains.

How true, your words. We are all guilty of looking the other way.Perhaps we should look inward sometimes to see if we can find a heart to help those less fortunate, Ros

talk about me being of formidable intelligence. . . .?
this is fantastic Ian.
You've a career as a minister somewhere. Your unrelenting striving towards making this world a better place lights that old fire. I had one once. I believed I really COULD CHANGE the world.
Naw, it changed me, but I'm holding on to that precious light. . .I wont let it go, and it shines so bright, when I read your words.
Thank you my friend. For being the caring individual you are, and the amazingly gifted poet you're becoming.
Love always,
Jin
