his compliments have been falling on two deaf ears
her replies pressed from two muted lips
he's been trying for what has seemed like years
and she's starting to get a little pissed
she's been avoiding his voice and eyes like the plague
concedes to some phone calls, regrets they're so hissed
he thinks she's playing him out for a gag
they're both regretting the first time they kissed
later on, she shares her concerns with dear mom
she figures by now, he should have gotten the gist
guess not - he invites her out to the prom
she refuses by offering her delicate, gloved fist
Author notes
Crappy place to be in, for either side. Mostly non-autobiographical.

I can feel you man, been there myself
I like the rhyme pattern, it keeps the poem somewhat lighthearted but still serious.
Thanks for the read
