My Alby Rose

When you came to visit I planted a rose
a golden rose of peace.
I watched it grow its leafy show
change colour and play in the breeze.
And then this morning, hidden away,
a fat bud peeked and nodded; G day,
then another, and another,
all dripping with dew,
their gold shining through
and I thought about you.

This was just beautiful and it makes one wish to find out more about the person you are speaking of ( not sure who it is since you don't specify in your author's notes and I am not a member of your group). Wonderful write, a pleasure to read!

I normally jump when a bright coloured background appears but this was so lovely with the golden rose I didn't

    Outstanding

I have just had a beautiful red rose blossom in the garden -despite its being November and your poem reminded me of it. I will have to check out some of Alby's poetry. I loved the lyrical flow, the delicate imagery you chose and the message. Best of luck in the contest.

Lovely verse about someone on this site and in this group. Enjoyed the flow and the sentiments expressed in these lines. Easy to read and understsand as well.

More big smiles...As soon as I read this I knew you had changed the ending. A lovely added touch, adding a dusting of thought at the end. Thank you so much for this poem, I treasure it and hope your roses bloom every year so they will remind you of me. alby

    Awww.... (sob!)

This is lovely. I'd love to know who Alby is... I must go and investigate.

Love the simplicity of words here, but they evoke a profound feeling of love and fellowship. Lovely jubbly!
