A Night Like This

Was it a night such as this
that the mountains breathed,
stars sneezing silver painted dewdrops
in the blue-black early hours,
as you lay burrowed in a pillow nest
looking out the open window,
when breathtaking words danced
from the tip of your divine lips,
making my previous blank life
flash behind my eyes unfettered,
to crumble into a wide pool of happiness.

Was it a night such as this
that rising Andromeda sighed,
the skies unfurled like a flag of victory,
gazing upon the joy of reunion,
as your heart, lost to me,
reached out and grasped me close,
realizing that my unwavering love
was the hero that had never died,
refilling an empty hole of horrors,
a furrowed sorrow’s wound in shadow,
healed by tender touch and forgiving kiss.

Will tonight be a night such as this,
where rising moon’s satin beams
shimmer through grey veiled cloud slivers,
glances upon gentle love’s embrace,
a torch to illuminate the way
for all our days and nights,
holding one to another
together, tighter than before,
through sadness pain and joy,
two heart’s shared hope
that this time, it is forever.
